Scots Barn Dance
It's been so warm for at least a week now. I haven't slept very well because of this heat and certain behaviour of nice ground-floor neighbours *sarcastic*. So whenever I can, I open all the windows hoping there might be a bit of a cool breeze out there peeping in. The temperature in my office studio has been between 28° - 36° and makes it hard to concentrate on projects that need to be done. I'm often distracted and end up doing other things like getting rid of clutter, reorganising and throwing out stuff. I did this all morning while I should've been working on a website but at least the room is all neat again and I've thrown out lots of crap.
I'm heading for Scotland Friday morning to visit my best friend Inge [she's Dutch] and enjoy a party they'll be throwing for 120 guests in the evening in their barn. Saturday evening I'll finally see the military tattoo at Edinburgh Castle and a huge fireworks display right after. Inge offered to go there when I visited her in Pitcairngreen, seven years ago but I think I had a bit of a cultural overdose back then since she already paid for a three days tour around parts of Scotland to see some castles, churches, the smallest distillery, the Wallace monument [summit of Abbey Craig] some wonderful [golf]sites and towns near the coast and a lot more.
I'm so looking forward to staying with her, they invited me so many times and I don't understand why I didn't go sooner. Last year after the break-up they wanted me to stay there for a while but I had too much on my mind back then to be able to relax. They moved from their cute cottage in 2002 to a wonderful huge old farmhouse, where they keep chicken, sheep, three dogs, a few hens and their neighbour's cows on their land to mow the grass. So I'm off soon to relax and enjoy nature, a wee dram, long walks with the dogs, jokes about anything expat related and my friends' company in general.
Bliss... One day I will move here with my Kekasih and keep some goats, I'm such a dreamer but I know this one will be real... Below is where I'll be staying [I'm showing you while walking around the house *hehe*]:

I'm jealous. Have a wonderful time, sounds like a great place to unwind.
36??!!
I need to send you a fan!
I know what you're enduring, I went through the same thing while I was masquerading as a Southerner ;-)
And that is partly where my early morning work sessions came from.
I'm SO glad you are finally heading north!!!!
You deserve some relief from the heat—temperature and other types.
I can't visit my forest, but I hope you will find the time to get out among those trees and hills and perhaps beam some of that peace to me as I sit in a classroom for the next 2 days.
ps: Two WW?? Oh my ;-)
mijjim—hehe, kinda like how that looks
Ismoyo: don't be jealous ;) :)
Thank you I will! It is a wonderful place to unwind! I'll be surrounded by nature and three wild dogs craving for my unconditional attention *hehe* A dream come true really, can't wait to walk through the meadows and the woods with them :)
How's your heatwave and life in general? Hope you're good!
Jim: I don't want you to send a fan... it would be much nicer if you would bring it... :)
I most certainly will beam peace your way, we both could use some. Lots of luck in the classroom and I'm eager to hear what will follow.
Two WW... yes... definitely. You might want to read that chapter about 'laughing' again coz that's exactly what is going to happen while I'm there. Two of us are 'bad', you might feel the earth move when we get our laugh kick(s) ;)
Thanks for your comments guys, I'm off packing :)
"One day I will move here with my Kekasih and keep some goats, I'm such a dreamer but I know this one will be real" Red is reading a book about the power of thoughts and how important it is to focus on those things that we want to achieve :) So I also believe that if you focus on your dream it will come true :)
Heat is unbereable here :( the humidity is amazing...
I hope that you are having a wonderful time with your friend :) Wow, Scottland...it sounds marvelous especially when one is with good friends.
BTW, cool pic :) You look great! :)
Sounds like Red reads cool books, would you mind sending me isbn? I'm curious now... I mean I'm interested in anything that would make that dream come true ;)
Sorry to hear about heat, isn't it much warmer in El Salvador? Just wondering... Guess it must be a different kind of heat. I was perfect with 50°C in Greece but not with 33°C in the Lowlands. I wish I could be a starfish on a Malta beach for three hours today *hehe*
I'm back and had a wonderful time, thanks Wen! Scotland is my favourite country :)
And thank you for the compliment, I'm blushing now ;)
That is very nice that you will be taking this trip Tess. Dreams are made to keep us alive. This place looks so peaceful and practical for meditation. I love places like this which seem to have a character embedded in their roots. I am still dreaming of Shetlands, maybe one day I can go.
Hi Reuben, I went over the weekend, it was fun! :)
Anywhere in Scotland seem to have that effect on me to be honest, it's just so beautiful out there! Climbing a munro is the kind of meditation that works best for me. Walking along a path that takes you somewhere unknown. All you know is the final destination: the top. But once there you couldn't imagine the amazing views hours ago when you started hiking... Sounds just like life itself doesn't it? :)
Aah Shetland, yes... same deal! ;)
I'm sure you will go one day, just don't forget to bring your camera :)
Yeah following a direction but not knowing where you're going kind of feeling. Its like a dandelion just hovering but it never knows where it will rest.
Yeah I have been planning Shetlands for a long time now and yeah pretty sure I will have the EOS right by my side :-)
:) The name of the book: "The answer" by John Assaraf and Murray Smith. ISBN: 978-1-84737-214-7
You can also check Red's latest post on his blog: www.reflectionsofaworldcitizen.blogspot.com as he wrote about it :)
Awesome! Thanks Wen, I'll check Red's blog later, curious to read his thoughts :)
Reuben: Sorry I totally missed your comment just now, how silly, I didn't mean to... :(
Good to hear Shetland/camera is on your mind, your words sound like a poem as usual, does that mean I miss reading your post and gazing at pictures in awe? ;)
Yeah I think I have been off the blog for quite a long time, Actually I haven't written anything for ages now. I just need to find myself again that's all.
