Beck's Canvas

| | Tickle My Senses (11)

I received an invitation last night from Barbara and one a while ago from Inci, both good friends and both (ex)student Graphic Design at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam where I used to work. I can't remember which year Barbara graduated but Inci graduated two days ago *congratulations!!!* and both invited me to their parties in Amsterdam which unfortunately I won't be able to attend because of some obligations. Their invitations reminded me of something that was brought to my attention recently, another invitation which I received through this blog...

I'm talking about the art project Beck's Canvas organised by Beck's beer in collaboration with the Royal College of Art here in London. Beck's Canvas offers talented artists a way to expose their artwork to the public using the label on Beck's bottles as their canvas. On the evening of the 16th July, Beck's will announce the four artists selected by a panel of judges from the Royal College of Art to showcase their art on the labels of over 27 million bottles to be distributed nationwide from August 2008. I've been invited to the exclusive launch of this event which will take place in exactly two weeks from now.

Beck's have championed talented artists without compromise for over 20 years, a very interesting, unique collection and taster can be found on their website including artists such as Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Jake&Dino Chapman, and Tatsuo Miyajima. Beck's Canvas marks an evolution of their ongoing support for emerging artists and their vision to bring inspiring and challenging artwork to a broader public. I'm really looking forward to attending this gallery exhibition and see the actual artwork of the four finalists on display. I hope I'll be allowed to take some pictures and show them on here!

Watch this space after the 16th...

"I've been invited to the exclusive launch of this event which will take place in exactly two weeks from now" How exciting!!! I would be jumping with joy if I had been invited to such an exclusive event :)

Will you take pictures for us? :)

Que tengas un feliz fin de semana amiga! (have a nice weekend my friend :)

oh I most certainly am excited! *hehe* And the funny thing is that my Dutch friend who lives in London too, received an invitation as well. She sells her photographs printed on canvas online. So she sent me an email to invite me along not realising I already had an invitation. I will be going with Maurice and meet up with her and her partner at the event.

I've sent the PR agency [who invited me] an email to ask if I'm allowed to take pictures but they didn't really answered the question, so I'll bring my camera anyway and will definitely show you pictures if they will let me take them :)

Have a beautiful weekend yourself dear friend, you and hubby! :)

Wen: yes, it will be fun! Really looking forward to this :) More later this week. Happy to hear you and hubby had a wonderful weekend and a good rest too :) It's Sunday noon here and I still haven't replied to your comments, I should be ashamed... :(

Hope you had a lovely dinner together, I'm curious to know the details: what's on the menu in Malta any specific Maltese dishes? Wouldn't have a clue to be honest *hehe* But you must be able to get fresh fish there and prawns or calamari *yummie!*

Jim: is there something you need to tell me? Am I not aware of certain plans you've been secretly brewing? I could just tell Maurice that I've found a better companion but worse chaperone? (One that actually wouldn't encourage correct behaviour in me *hehe*) :p

In case you're referring to the photography issue... :p I guess I just have to use my charm and smile to convince a few ;) I'm a good girl I don't do forgery only if it would make distance and borders disappear *hehe*

We went to our favorite Indian restaurant in Malta on Saturday :) I had prawns as usual ;) and Red had chicken patiala. Maltese food is really good! :) One day I will take pictures and post :) They have something like bruschettas that they call hobz-biz zejt which literally means bread with oil :) but it is really good :)

Seems your plans might be better then any I might have conjured up ;-)

Wen: did you realise your blog has the same option? So any Blogger has one basically :) I installed mine because I thought it would be handy, I'm happy to hear you like it!

Mmm prawns sound delicious, my type of food! Would be great to see pictures on your blog and those bruschettas sound absolutely divine! Probably nothing but garlic and oil (?) *hehe* It would be nice to try some recipes some day :)

Jim: not necessarily ;)
Yesterday you brought up a much better plan which made me smile from ear to ear ;)
We could compromise? :p Either way, both of us would win... nice huh?

I'm wearing chocolate and it's five of us now, Karin and her partner, Maurice and his partner and me. So at least one of them should be able to take a nice picture of me *LOL* It's probably the only person who doesn't 'pretend to be' a photographer :p

We'll see :)

Hehe.... tell me about compromises :-)
We both could stand some winning these days.

Yes, avoid the pretenders even if they do have the best of intentions.
We need some nice pics of chocolate. . . and more importantly, of You!!

I think you've seen some nice chocolate pictures ;)
I'll have to write a post about the evening still, I received a few pictures through email and will add a few of my own but it can wait for now :-O

And I can wait, going to have to do a lot of preparation as a result of the events on Monday ;-)
