Welcome!
I have finally finished the new design for this blog, it took me longer than I expected because I ran into some serious problems while moving from one domain to the other. The issue is still there but I might be able to solve it over time. For those of you who are still waiting for a sign of life, I will send emails out this week, that's a promise. I just had to finish installing first because my other domain will be gone soon and you know what?
I'm happy that I no longer will be bothered by people who are looking for that American couple... Clean stats, hurray! Well since you're reading this, knock yourself out and leave me a comment! Tess will be very happy to hear what you think of the new look... And a very special thank you to Farfallina and Paul for their quick visit last night and leaving me a very nice comment...

Well done for moving on and up. It's amazing how a little spring (or autumn) cleaning can brighten your outlook on life... ;)
Let me know if the issues you mention are anything that I might help you with! Don't forget I run a hosting company... ;)
Thank you :) Yes it is amazing isn't it? I'd like to call it declutter of the chaos in my head... :)
Oh, I didn't realise you did hosting too, should've asked you specs *hmmm* I'll keep that in mind!
Well problem is MT to be honest: building huge files sizes... and I can't get my head around this dynamic publishing, it would make things easier/faster but I keep running into compiler errors [php].
You may recall that I didn't have a great experience with the new MT when I tried it? Well, I haven't dared to poke around with it since!
However - and just for you - I could set it up on a spare domain, to be played around with. It might establish if your errors are caused by a hosting setup (which is common).
Looks just wonderful Tessie!
I hope it didn't take too long to sort it out, and I really hope you got some rest. . . now stay in bed for awhile ;-)
Paul: yes I remember your post but that was beta version wasn't it? It is pretty stable now and installing was very simple. Thanks so much for your offer, that would be awesome, perhaps we could look at it together if you like, but only when your huge project is done and online... I'm not in a rush with it at all, thanks for your help Paul!
Jim: Thank you dear, well I started to delete files and categories ;) which is only a temporary solution because it will expand or I should stop writing a blog *hehe* I had my rest this morning and it was a well deserved one ;)
Right. All done. I've sent you a mail with info to your ragg doll address.
It took me just over five minutes to install, so I'm assuming I've done it all the right way? ;)
I'd like to learn about MT4 with you if that's OK? I'm not convinced that WordPress is the saviour of blogging that it's portrayed to be - MT4 and ExpressionEngine seem much more flexible!
Jeez Paul, that's quick! Cheers! Yes if you've done in five then it should be ok ;) Just double check at some point: when MT adds folders, that permissions are correct... mine were screwed up. I share your thoughts about WP, MT is so much nicer and you can do a lot more. If only I can get dynamic publishing to work ;)
Yes will help you but it's not as hard as it was, a lot has changed with 4.0 and is easer to tweak. Let's get Britster done first and then play with MT k? (got your mail!)
The MT post-install diagnostics didn't flag up any incorrectly permissioned folders, so it's probably OK...
What's the advantage of dynamic publishing then? I read the documentation on it (assuming that you mean asynchronus publishing), but I still don't get it!
Yeah, I know that you're right about getting Britster done first - but I'm a guy, and shiny new software totally distracts me! ;)
Dynamic publishing: it creates a page on the fly, so all is stored in DB instead of locally and will only download as soon as someone clicks a link. The file sizes should be much smaller and I believe it's much faster...
Downside MT 4.0 comments approval... can't add you to whitelist, there's a plugin but needs updating and I don't get an email about new comments somehow [seems to be bug]. So might take a bit before yours appear. I'll be away from blog ;) need to fight a flu caused by working nights and no sleep *hehe*
p.s. you don't need to be a guy to appreciate anything software related ;)
Ah... I see. So, it's kind of like an advanced caching system. Would that be of benefit to you - I would've thought that was aimed at commercial sites?
What's going wrong with it then? I noticed that it needs a Cron job configured - is that what you're having issues with?
Take it easy and kick the flu - at least as easy as you can anyway! ;)
Did I say guy? I meant geek... :)
I love the new look. It's great :)
Cheers Stuart, so nice to read all the positive feedback!
