Just Gross
I'm not sure if I need to become vegetarian or not. I do like chicken or steak, basically those two types are the only two I eat about once or twice a week. I had a look at this Lowlands website for the protection of animals and it's just plain rude and unacceptable what happens to animal just for the sake of consumption and big supermarkets.
There's an article about castrating little pigs because the meat starts to smell at some fry temperature if they don't do this, fact is though that these little piggies are castrated without any anaesthetic. Just take a minute to imagine what it would be like for yourself if they would do this to you? Isn't it horrific?
Then I read an article about chickens, they're life span is about 81 days when they're lucky, they have about 4 metres square to run around. 81 days is nothing compared to human life, let's say 81 years... It's shocking. Worst case it's only 42 days just about enough to grow fat and no space to run around.
Then I read another article about fastfood... Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonalds, Burger King etc. companies who use fast growing chicks that are ready to go to the slaughter in only 42 days which is twice as fast as 30 years ago and four times quicker than a 'regular' chick. Below you see a picture of a fast growing chick on the right and a normal chick on the left, both are only six weeks old.
I have to admit that I love KFC, but I will think twice now before I go in and order...
