Dolce Gabbana
My cellular phone [I love! that word: 'cellular'...] came in this morning, nicely wrapped in a big Royal Mail bag addressed to A. because he ordered it for me [sweetheart ain't he?]. So I called him to see if I could open the bag, I was so excited! I wasn't sure if it was my cellular *grin* phone, but it was, how cool! It is so horribly tacky and wrong, that I like it. Yes I'm twisted, we all know. It came in a big golden box with charger, USB cable, a memory card that is TINY, only about 11x8mm!!! and contains 64Mb, incredible huh?, a special cloth to clean the cellphone, sorry, cellular phone, a blingbling D&G logo and D&G software.
Everthing of course is covered in Dolce Gabbana logo's, it even comes with movies of catwalk shows, a special wallpaper and special sounds. I hope its performance will be as good as the packaging... We'll see. I have been checking cellphones online for at least four days, just had enough of it. Christiaan sent me a few emails with good advice, to be honest I had no clue that I needed to check with Apple to see if it was compatible with my PowerBook and G5. Yes I should be ashamed, it's just something I didn't realise. I thought things would've been more advanced these days but I guess it isn't. Since I had to consult the list that Christiaan sent me my disappointed grew bigger and bigger; there were NO nice phones at all.
Just two, that I really liked and which came close to what I wanted from a cellphone. I don't need video nor imaging options because I always carry my Canon Ixus on me where ever I go, quality of the pictures is simply much better. I wanted a decent cellphone with a good organiser, good battery life and a big screen incase I decided to get the GPS software. But most important feature would be the possibility to sync the phone with my computers, both iCal and Address Book perhaps even our online WebCalendar through RSS [yes it comes with that option]. Well I had to drop the GPS option, instead I decided to stick with my first decision which was a small book with maps... Much easier!
I found a book last Sunday when we were at Picadilly Circus, we walked into a small bookshop and there it was, a mini A-Z of London, the perfect size that fits in my handbag nicely. I can take notes and write down things on the maps if I need to. Old-fashioned ways aren't necessarily bad ways, in this case it was the best solution and I listened to my gut feeling instead of being blinded by all the technical possibilities. Instead I'm blinded by the colour of my cellphone; too much blingbling...

So, I'm happy with my phone so far, I can add my own ringtones in mp3 or polyphone, it has Quad-band : GSM 850/900/1800/1900, Alarm, Bluetooth Technology, Airplane mode, Integrated Speakerphone, PIM functionality, Calculator and Currency Converter, Date and Clock, Calendar with alarm settings, Picture Phone Book [up to 1000 entries], Caller Group Profiling, Time & date stamp, MP3 Player, Integrated Digital Camera : 1.23 megapixel camera with 8X zoom and a lot more.
Well I better keep going and sort out the phone, here are some pictures I took this morning. I'll let you know what I think about the performance, if it's as slick as the design... speak soon!
