Maggots
I know I'm not supposed to do this but I just have to tell you what is going on over here. I'm busy packing but I'm distracted all the time by something in the garden. Two days ago I noticed a dead mouse right in front of the kitchen door to the garden. It was on the other side of the door though, in the garden. I wanted to chuck it in the garden next doors since these people are doing the same thing with my garden.
But I forgot because I wanted to do this at night when no-one could see me doing this, yeah I'm a sneak when the opportunity calls for it. So the dead mouse has been lying there for two days now. I observed it every now and then and noticed all the thick fat meat flies crawling all over it. I was wondering if they were eating the mouse or infest it with their eggs. Yesterday Joyce came over to take pictures of the house. She is moving in hopefully. So I warned her about the mouse, not to step on it or something since it was still lying there covered in green flies.
Last night I couldn't be bothered to pick up the mouse and chuck it over the fence. I thought about the stench [although I haven't smelt a thing so far!] and what the invisible sight of the mouse would look like by now. It's lying on one side so I can't see the other... So I thought it would be better to leave it and let it disappear slowly instead of having to pick it up with a spade and throw it. I didn't really want to have a look at it to be honest. Last night before I went to bed I looked through the window and noticed the mouse had been moved. Probably by a cat. I couldn't see it.
This morning when I woke up I had a look and noticed that the mouse was still there but indeed it had been moved onto the other side which is now exposed to air and view. Funny thing; some leaves are covering and/or blocking the view so I can't really see what is going on underneath. But when I walked into the kitchen just now, I noticed a frog sitting next to the dead mouse and I thought to myself, it ain't gonna eat that mouse is it? So I was just standing there watching, curious what the frog was doing there. It slowly approached the mouse and reached forward.
Then I noticed something crawling on the floor and I knew straight away that that was what the frog was looking at. I saw him attack the crawling creatures with his long tongue. Picking them one by one, and at some point even two in one go. Big fat crawling maggots... I wondered how long it would take to see them crawling in the garden, well, here's my answer. I'm going to pack my stuff again but will keep an eye on the frog and his delicious lunch. Just out of curiosity... and because I have a sick twisted mind...
So long
