Home Sweet Home

|

We came home today at 18.30 after spending three weeks in the South of France [half an hour drive from Cannes] where we had to work on A.'s house to accomplish a complete make over... It's been stressful and we didn't have time to enjoy ourselves basically because we have been busy doing all the work that needed to be done which was a lot! We didn't even have time to take a swim in the new built swimming pool. Well, next time for sure!

I've been painting the whole kitchen, chairs, a wall in the lounge, a sidetable and some smaller items like a picture frame. I've redecorated the lounge, three bedrooms and the kitchen. As I wrote earlier we tried to get internet connection but I guess France Telecom couldn't be bothered to get the job done on time so when we left yesterday it still didn't work. In a way it was okay because to me it's hard to stay away from computers and internet but on the other hand it would've been quite useful since I needed to look up stuff at times and I couldn't.

It's back to work again starting tomorrow, to be honest something I am not quite ready for. I feel drained after the long trip. It has been busy on the road after Brussels and we had the local idiots on the road as well. I almost had an accident on our way to France when some moron decided to stop on the highway, out of the blue and right in front of me while I was doing a 130 k/h. I couldn't overtake since another car was overtaking me... I managed to get us out of this freaky situation, don't ask me how because I really can't remember, all I remember was the way I felt afterwards.

Some people just can't drive and it was annoying from time to time. I reckon they've never learned to indicate either because it seems to be a 'normal' thing down south. Anyway we're back and I have to admit traffic over here is even worse; too busy on the roads especially today. We had wonderful sunny warm weather in the south and I have a nice sun tan although I have not been out in the sun that often. I was working in the basement most of the time, painting, it was nice and cool in there.

Yesterday I had to drive in pissing down rain which was exhausting after two hours. Today A. had his share when it was my turn to sleep. I also had to deal with roadwork both ways which was slowing us down. Three spots, all of them about 12 km, with a speed limit of 70 k/h. I had all three of them on our way to France and all three of them on our way back home. It's boring... I realised I missed a national day of celebration while we were in France. I managed for the first time to get away from it all and be abroad while everyone else over here turned loony... It was good to avoid it and I didn't miss it at all!

Well, I guess there is too much to write about and I can't remember it all so I will probably write some more in the next few days. For now I will upload some more pictures and add some comments, then it's off to bed because I'll have an early start tomorrow morning.
