Another Busy Day
A. had to get up early this morning to work extra time for the Oracle team. He left at about 07.30. I slept in for a while and woke up by the sound of a hailstorm. The weather was terrible today, very cold, windy and lots of showers and a hailstorm every now and then. I had to be ready by 12.30 because Dina would come to pick me up to go shopping for xMas presents.
We spent about 5 hours looking for stuff. Things are so expensive these days but we both managed to find decent stuff for a decent price. I bought a few expensive gifts too. Since Carla will be spending xMas with us we decided to spoil her too and so I bought some really nice things for her. I can't tell what it is yet because I have no idea if she reads this blogger. If she does this is a message to her: *grin* you'll find out next weekend what you're gonna get from Santa *evil laugh*
In the evening A. and I went to a party. My colleague and friend Alex turned 60 and invited us to come to the academy to celebrate his birthday. We gave him a bottle of champagne. We stayed for an hour and a half. All his print work was presented on tables, beautiful items! Very nice to see what he has printed over the years, it was quite an impressive collection. We went to the DVD store to return the DVD that we watched yesterday which is called 'Unleashed', what a movie... Below you can read a review about this. It's a tough and rough movie but very good!
We drove home to park the car and took our bicycles to go to the Irish bar. I promised Vanja we would come over to meet up. She had to work though but she always has time to sit with us for a while and chat. She finished early that evening though and we ended up talking and left at around midnight. It was pretty cold: wind and hailstorm so I was happy to be home again!

Some may accuse me of being overly picky when it comes to movies, but I also know when to step back and look at something within the context of it's genre. I've read a couple of excerpts of reviews of Unleashed that use words like "ludicrous" and "preposterous" to describe the film. You want to talk picky? Go bother those guys.
Me, I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. Of course I went in expecting to see some cool martial arts fight scenes. What I didn't expect to see was actual drama and a great performance by Jet Li. I think the issue that some people might have with Unleashed is the fact that it straddles two (or more) movie styles instead of fitting squarely into just one category of film.
