Hen Night in Reading - UK

|

Boy did we have a fun weekend! I'm still tired... We left on Friday afternoon to fly to London Stansted were we arrived late in the evening [I believe it was around 22.00] It's an airport with a silly train that takes you to the main building. A. rented a car from Europecar so we had to pick it up right outside the airport.

We needed to buy some groceries so we went to a Tesco to buy breakfast for the weekend, soy milk/yoghurt, juice and fruit [for my diet]. We were staying at Chris' place so they were expecting us. We went there after our short Tesco visit.

We stayed up till 02.30 in the morning, chatting with I. and C. and having a drink. When I was about to go to bed I suddenly realised that I forgot to pack my funny brain pills. Jeez realising that made my heart pump like crazy. I'm not allowed to forget one...

Anyway, although it was late that night we were happy to be able to sleep in in the morning but that was ruined after I found out about the pills. It meant, getting up as early as possible to try to see a doctor and get a two days prescription... How could I have been so foolish?

We tried to get up at 08.30 in the morning. A.had looked up an address on the internet and phoned these people but there was no answer. He said we would have to try again in 30 minutes, so we cuddled up and slept for a while. Unfortunately when he rang again they still didn't answer the phone, so A. decided to go there and check since it was around the corner.

They were closed so C. took us to the pharmacy first to see if we could get the meds without a prescription. It would've been possible if I could've shown them the package but I didn't bring them so therefore we had to go the nearest National Health Service [NHS] walk-in centre where I got the prescription for the meds after seeing a doctor.

We picked up the meds at the pharmacy and went home to have breakfast, change, and get ready for the hen night. A. would drive us to Yateley were the party would start with wine, champagne and chocolate. A two hours drive. He would also have to drive back to London to attend the stag do for S. So he dropped us off and drove back home.

J. [Yateley]

Around 16.30 we all left for Reading. Some of the boyfriends of J.'s friends took us to Reading by car where we arrived at about 17.00 to go for a treasure hunt [bar crawl]. We were divided up in two teams. Each team had to visit 8 bars, collect a souvenir from the bar, have a drink and take a picture of the team having a drink.

We decided to nick something from each bar and write a poem with a hidden message about the object[s]. We nicked a salt and pepper pot, a spoon, two plates, a measuring thimble, fork and knife, a shot glass and in the last bar a napkin [see pictures below]. Our team won because of our presentation, creativity and our poems *grin*

We stayed at the bar until it was time to go to the Thai restaurant for dinner. The food was absolutely excellent! Great service too. We had a lovely evening! We stayed till about 23.00, some people left the party already, so would we since we ordered a cab to bring us back to London [another 2 hours drive]. So we split up at the restaurant, the others went to a club to dance. C. and I were quite tired so we were happy to go home.

The cab driver was a pain in the "A" though since he was driving way too fast and got flashed by a camera. He then hit the breaks so hard that C. woke up because she was slammed into the driver's seat *nice... not* He was faffing about with his little map device while driving and not paying attention at all... A lot of other stuff happened during the trip home. At some point I was really fed up with being in the car, I just wanted to be home...

I received a text message from A. that he had called, so I called him back. He was home already, so I told him it would take about another 20 minutes to get there since we went all the way across town *No idea why the driver had to take a D-tour...* I didn't like him anyway, he ripped us off and locked the car when we didn't give him the right amount of money [according to him], twat...

I was glad to be home and with A. though, we had a coffee and talked about the hen night and the stag do while we waited for the others to come home. They came in about an hour later. I tried on the hat that I will have to wear on the wedding, C. will borrow it to me which is great because I won't have to spend £250,- on one... Don't you think it suits me????

We stayed up till 6 in the morning... drinking and chatting it was a great day!
