We had to get up at 05.00 this morning to get ready to go to the airport and catch our flight to London Gatwick which was supposed to leave at 09.10. But when we woke up this morning the weather was terrible, horizontal rain and very stormy. I said to A. that with this type of weather we could expect delays. We took a taxi to the airport and when we checked in our stuff we already noticed the cancellations on the monitors. It didn't look good at all. A lot of flights to the UK were cancelled because of the bad weather.

We sat down and had breakfast and a drink at some restaurant. I called Carla to tell her that I didn't have had time yesterday to come to the store and have a chat with her. I went to Dina to have my nails done and that took much longer than expected. Dina wanted it to be perfect so I stayed there for about five hours then I rushed home and had to do three loads of laundry; all stuff that we needed for the wedding. I was finished at 01.52 in the morning so we had about three hours of sleep altogether.

Our flight had an hour delay in the end which was not bad at all considering the conditions. When I talked to Christiaan and Dina on Tuesday, they both told me that we have been lucky for being able to take a flight anyway since they seemed to have closed the runway at the airport on Friday afternoon until Saturday 15.00. We would never had made it to the wedding. People were sent home and Christiaan told me there was about five cm of ice on the roads and 800 km of traffic jams all over the country. Funny thing was, when we landed at Gatwick there was a bright sun, so bright that I wished I had taken my shades of course I didn't expect sunshine so I left them at home...

We went to our hotel to check in, but we were too early so we had lunch at the pub around the corner. I had fish and chips which was really good! I was so cold though, lucky me I could sit next to the fire place so I wasn't that cold after a while. It was freezing in the UK and I didn't bring warm clothes... After lunch we could check in and put our stuff in our room. I took a nap because we were supposed to meet up in the evening at the church for a rehearsal and after the rehearsal we would have dinner and go back to the hotel. We stayed up a bit longer that evening, drinking and chatting...
