New Year 2005

|

We went hiking for a couple of hours in the morning which was at times a bit tricky due to snow and slippery trails, it took us a long time but it was fun! Alas the waterfall we've been looking for turned out to be some wintertime stream... We climbed our way up back to the road because I was too tired to go back on the same trail again. The road was bendy and dangerous, but also very flat compared to the trail and not slippery at all because all the snow had been melted by the sun. Back in the car we found out that we took the wrong trail that morning, the waterfall was opposite of where we climbed up to the road. Too bad... We will have to do it again in the spring emoticons/tongue.gif

After hiking we went for a ride in the mountains and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. It was a bright and sunny day. We wanted to go back to the hotel and decided to take another route this time but that wasn't such a good idea. Because of all the snow the road was slippery and after trying to drive all the way to the top of a mountain we thought it would be better to go back because it was just too dangerous. Other cars were doing exactly the same thing, it was just too tricky to take the risk. Climbing up the mountain was alright but going down hill in a car you have almost no control over is plain stupid, especially when it would be dark soon... On our way home we saw this wild boar, digging the fresh snow and soil. I tried to take a picture but we were too far away emoticons/sad.gif

Around 17.30 we were back at the hotel and went to buy some groceries at the local supermarket. The restaurant would be closed that evening and also the next morning, so we needed to buy some food for dinner and breakfast. The hotel was closed and the owner was out all evening partying with his family or something. He wouldn't be back until noon the next day so he asked us to leave the key at the counter. There were only a couple of other people spending the night there too. So in the evening we had a picknick on the bed and early champagne because we had to go to bed on time since we would leave early the next day to go to the ski resort up in the mountains [an hour drive from where we stayed].

We had a quiet but lovely New Year. I reckon the best I ever had in years, no noise, no waiting for a silly clock to strike twelve, no annoying drunks, no loud fireworks, just the two of us and a big bottle of champagne donated by A. his parents. We loved it!!! All of it... It was the perfect New Year.

Happy New year everyone from both of us!!!
